Portinscale is 1 mile west of Keswick in the north Lake District. Within the village refreshments and meals can be taken at The Farmers Arms public house and the hotel restaurant at The Derwentwater Hotel - all less than five minutes walk away. The Chalet Bistro and village store is situated directly opposite Harney Peak. There are also two marinas in the village.

The tranquil village of Portinscale lies on the northern edge of Derwent Water and is surrounded by some of the most magnificent scenery in the Lake District National Park including the Skiddaw Range and Borrowdale Valley. All four seasons will offer breath taking views of the fells, valleys, lakes and forests.

Harney Peak is ideally situated for you to explore this beautiful part of the Northern Lake District all year-round, whether by foot, car, bike or boat. From the doorstep of No. 7 there are a variety of walks, suitable for all ages and abilities. We provide walking books for use during your stay to help you explore the area.

A scenic 10 – 15 minute walk takes you to the popular town of Keswick with its variety of shops, tea rooms, restaurants and pubs to suit every taste. Evening entertainment includes a cinema and the award winning Theatre by the Lake with its year- round programme of exhibitions and live performances. The lively Saturday market sells local produce and crafts and throughout the year there is a variety of festivals and the Keswick Show.
